Well, as usual SRC FUNNYT started late. About 9pm, three Dj’s were still testing their machines. Earlier on about 8:30 pm, the ATL cultural troupe treated the hand full audience with a spectacular performance. It was on point though the audience were not too much enthused with it since their expectations were to see Stay J and Co rock stage.
For about 40 minutes, nothing interesting was going on. To my surprise, one of the MC’s hinted to me that event will officially start at 10 pm. After sitting idle for more than an hour, a poet mounts the stage to introduce the MCs after giving his piece. Officially the show started at 10:20 pm.
Now the show had started. At a point I thought there was an earthquake. Well, I can confidently say that Dj Bruno rocked the house with his back to back selection after the MC’s introduction. On the lighter side, Esther Smith's “maye nhyira” has gained popularity in my view since all dance groups I came across love to mime with that particular song. “Tea bread” and “sugar” were on with their incredible performance. The fashion show dragged the event a bit though their choreographed dance was on point. Big up’s to the models.
Headmaster, one of UCC's best comedians was really not in his elements this time around but the lady who came to caution our women on their dressing really hit the nail on the head; advising our ladies to pride themselves with dignity. Wow! LITTLE was in his elements as usual thrilling the crowd with his dance moves; that dude has a great future.
Were the organizers not ready to organize this event? I don’t know if it was part of the event’s outline but for almost an hour, nothing happened with only drunk guys twisting and shaking their butts to those of us in front.
SRC FUN NYT !! Even at 1:10am, none of the headline acts had mounted stage. I also noticed that the headline acts were not introduced. Can't tell if the MC’s were tired or not but what a poor sound I experienced. Sound could have been much better looking at the calibre of stars that rocked the stage.
This write up can't really talk much about the performers but all I can say is, the headline acts represented and and gave patrons their money's worth. It is high time event organizers on campus took the entertainment business serious. Building a good brand is not child's play.
Midley and his team good try, but you need to step up your game if you want to go far in this line of work. I can't say much because I’m short of words and probably because I believe this might not be the story SRC FUN NYT COMMITTEE is expecting but as we all know, the truth hurts. More vim in your sub
sequent events and ucctalks.com appreciates the fact that you gave the home rappers the chance to show what they got.
Oops did I say I'm short of words? Sorry then.
